To The End Of The Rainbow

Poppy Wilder is a wild, abrasive young psychology major in her third year, with bright red hair and one too many tattoos. Life is all sunshine and roses until her mother is killed in a hit and run accident. Poppy falls into a deep state of depression, falling behind in her classes; her only consolation is archery, her aim becoming more brutally accurate as she skips classes to go to the range. Poppy develops schizophrenia three months after the death of her mother, suffering from confusing delusions and memory loss. One afternoon as she is out on the archery range, she suffers from a particularly vivid hallucination, in which she sees a rainbow with treasure glinting at the end of it. After it passes, Poppy is convinced that she must follow the rainbow, and find the treasure at the end of it. Still unaware that she is suffering from schizophrenia, she drops her classes and her job, going on the run and travelling through town and cities in search of her rainbow.

On the way, she meets Alex Clayson; a spitfire fellow with tender brown hair like a crown of autumn leaves, a terrible lip reader and is mildly autistic. Alex has no problems believing that Poppy must find the end of a rainbow, and subsequently, the treasure that is waiting for her there. Alex, who has just been kicked out of home by his abusive stepfather, joins Poppy on her adventure to find the rainbow.

To The End Of The Rainbow is a story about self discovery, the recklessness of youth, screaming at the world when it gives you the shit in life, and then greeting your demons as friends as both Alex and Poppy come to terms with their future.
